Emilio Corchado is a Professor Titular de Universidad) of Computer Science at the University of Burgos, Spain. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and his undergraduate degree in Physics from University of Salamanca (Spain). His research interest center's on artificial neural networks, with a particular focus on exploratory projection pursuit, self-organising maps and multiple classifier systems. He is the director of the GICAP Research Group at the University of Burgos, Spain. He has published more than twenty papers in international journals, and around sixty papers in international conferences as ICANN, ICONIP,ESANN, IWANN, IDEAL, NNSP, KES, SBRN, CAEPIA, MICAI, ICDM, ECCBR, HAIS, and so on. He is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence and Applications (IJCIA), World Scientific Publishing Co.
Dr. Corchado has also reviewed for various journals as Neurocomputing, IEEE-Trans. on Neural Networks, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Systems, Man and Cybernetics - Part B and International Journal on Intelligent Automation and Soft Computing among others.
He chaired several sessions and is member of some international scientific committees as: IDEAL 2004-05-06-07, ICANN 2005-06-07, CIS 2005, TAMIDA 2005-07, IWPAAMS 2004-05-06-07, AC 05-06-07, ISNN 2006-07, KES 2006-07, NICSO 2006-07, ACS2005-06, International Joint Conference 2006, HAIS 2006-07, Workshop on Integrating AI and Data Mining 2006, CIARP 2006-07, CAEPIA 2007, AMS 2007, IWINAC 2007, Workshop on Soft Computing in Intelligent Multimedia and so on. He was chairman of the IWPAAMS'2004 conference held in Burgos in Oct 2004 and IDEAL´2006 in September and HAIS 2007 in Salamanca. He is also a Programme Committee Chairs of IDEAL 2007. He currently is member of the Nature-inspired Data Technology (NiDT) focus group within the European CA project on Nature-inspired Smart Information Systems (NiSIS).
