Dear Colleagues, After the success of ISDA 2001, we are organising ISDA 2002: Second International Workshop on Intelligent Systems Design and Applications in Atlanta, USA. Venue: Atlanta, USA Date: 07-08 August 2002, Workshop URL: http://isda2002.softcomputing.net/ Sponsors: Technically co-sponsored by The World Federation of Soft Computing (WFSC) Intelligent Systems Design and Applications (ISDA 2002) is an International workshop that brings together international soft computing / artificial intelligence researchers, developers, practitioners, and users. The aim of ISDA 2002 is to serve as a forum to present current and future work as well as to exchange research ideas in this field. ISDA 2002 invites authors to submit their original and unpublished work that demonstrate current research in all areas of soft computing and computational intelligence including design of artificial neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary algorithms, hybrid systems, agents, and their applications in science, technology, business and commercial. Topics of interest include but not limited to: Applications/techniques using the following, but not limited to: Artificial Neural Networks - Mathematical foundations of neural networks, architectures and algorithms. - Learning theory (supervised/unsupervised/reinforcement learning) - Knowledge based networks - Implementation issues of neural networks - Neural network applications - Special topics Fuzzy Systems - Fuzzy logic and possibility theory - Fuzzy expert systems - Fuzzy system design using evolutionary algorithms - Fuzzy system modeling and simulation - Fuzzy systems and applications - Special topics Evolutionary Algorithms - Genetic algorithms - Evolution strategies - Genetic programming - Evolutionary programming - Learning Classifiers - Hybrid evolutionary algorithms - Evolutionary algorithms and applications - Special topics Hybrid Soft Computing Neural network- fuzzy systems Fuzzy systems- evolutionary algorithms Neural network - evolutionary algorithms Neural network- fuzzy systems- evolutionary algorithms Hybrid systems applications Special topics All Other Intelligent Systems - Intelligent agents (architectures, environments, adaptation/ learning and knowledge management) - Support Vector Machines - Bayesian networks and probabilistic reasoning - Rough sets - Hard computing techniques - Fusion of hard and soft computing techniques - Intelligent CAD systems - Intelligent optimization techniques - Special topics ************************************************************************** Paper Submission ************************************************************************** Authors of contributed and invited papers are requested to submit, before March 08 28, 2002, an article not exceeding 6 pages of their research presentation (each additional page costs US$50.00 per page). Please type each article single spaced on one side of 8.5x11 size paper with one inch margin on all sides. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. All full papers are to be submitted in PDF, postscript or MS word version electronically to: isda02@softcomputing.net Hard copies should be sent only if electronic submission is not possible. All papers will be peer reviewed by at least two independent referees of the international program committee of ISDA'02. Extended version of selected papers will be considered as book chapters for a special edited volume which will be published in the "Studies in Fuzziness and Soft Computing" by Springer Verlag, Germany. Authors should indicate whether they wish their papers to be considered for this special volume. Extended version of outstanding papers will be invited for the Elsevier Science International On-line " Applied Soft Computing Journal" (official journal of the World Federation on Soft Computing) . The paper will be selected by the International Technical Committee of ISDA 2002. ************************************************************************** Important Dates ************************************************************************** Submission deadline: March 08, 2002 Notification of acceptance: March 29, 2002 Camera ready papers and pre-registration due : April 15, 2002 ************************************************************ Workshop Chairs ************************************************************ Organising Chair Ajith Abraham School of Computing and Information Technology, Monash University, VIC 3842 , Australia Phone: +61 3 990 26778, Fax: +61 3 990 26879 Email: ajith.abraham@ieee.org Program Chairs Baikunth Nath School of Computing and Information Technology Monash University (Gippsland Campus), Australia, Phone: +61 3 990 26468 Email: Baikunth.Nath@infotech.monash.edu.au Saratchandran P School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore 639798 Telephone: +65-790 5029 Email: epsarat@ntu.edu.sg *********************************************************************** International Technical Committee Members *********************************************************************** Shunichi Amari, RIKEN Brain Science Institute, Japan Janusz Kacprzyk, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland Etienne E Kerre, Ghent University, Belgium Hung T.
